Planning & Logistics

We love a good plan – it’s the key to a successful move. In order to create and stick to that plan, we need to understand where you are and where you’re headed. What’s the timeline? Are you hoping to move next week or are you giving yourself months to prepare? Do you have an idea of what will go where in your new home or will you need assistance with a space plan? 

  

We’ll take inventory of your possessions and create a manageable transition timeline indicating what needs to happen … and when. Hiccups may force us to deviate from our plan, but fortunately, we excel at contingency planning too. During this crucial phase, we’ll: 

  

  • Perform a comprehensive review of your home and its contents
  • Evaluate the new floor plan and design a layout to maximize space and functionality 
  • Determine, in advance, if new furnishings are needed and if so, provide recommendations on where to purchase
  • Coordinate aspects of the move with your Realtor 
  • Recommend and communicate with the moving company
  • Coordinate move-in day with your new community 
  • Suggest, contract with and manage third-party vendors, such as auction houses, donation centers or trash removal


Declutter, Sort, & Stage

You’ve no doubt accumulated a lot of possessions – and memories – in the years you’ve been in your home. And you’ve grown attached to your treasures. Deciding what to take to your new residence and what to part with can be fraught with emotion. We’ll guide you through these tough decisions with objectivity and compassion. 


Even as you’re shedding some possessions, you may need to acquire new ones. Maybe your new space offers counter seating, and you suddenly need bar stools you’ve never needed before. We can help identify what might be missing. Our services include:

  

  • A room-by-room sorting process 
  • Dividing all your belongings into categories: keep, gift, sell/consign, donate and/or discard 
  • Reducing clutter, simplifying, and staging your home to prepare for market 
  • Tagging furniture, artwork and accessories to take with you 






Packing & Moving Day Management

Clients often tell us we’re magicians. In reality, we’re more like master puppeteers. We direct and manage the various vendors involved and “pull strings” to ensure a smooth transition. 


We allow our clients to relax before, during and after a move. We’ll:  

  

  • A room-by-room sorting process 
  • Purchase boxes and packing/moving materials 
  • Take “before” photos of drawers, cabinets and closets for content placement to establish familiarity in your new home
  • Wrap and box your possessions with care and clearly label contents
  • Neatly stack and place boxes in one location for move efficiency 
  • Oversee and direct movers at both locations, ensuring all boxes are transported and furniture is placed according to plan 
  • Quickly and creatively troubleshoot issues that might arise 





Unpack, Organize, & the Big Reveal

You don’t even need to be present on moving day – at your old house or your new one. We’ll handle every aspect of the move and have your new home ready for you, with cabinets stocked and the bed(s) made. If you prefer to be onsite, we welcome that, too – but you won’t need to lift a finger! We:  

  

  • Unpack boxes 
  • Arrange furniture based on space plan created
  • Hang clothes; organize closets, cabinets and drawers
  • Connect TVs, computers, lamps, clocks and appliances
  • Put fresh linens on your bed (or beds)
  • Style bookcases 
  • Accessorize with throw pillows, houseplants, accent pieces
  • Hang pictures … and anything else that makes your new space feel like home
  • Break down boxes and dispose of all moving materials 

  

It may seem impossible, but we’re committed to getting your move done in a day. Our clients are regularly amazed by the speed in which we make things happen.  When we leave, you’re left feeling entirely settled and comfortable in your new home.


Change of Address

You know you need to notify the U.S. Postal Service of your new address. But there are several other service providers that need to know, as well – and some aren’t as obvious as others. Navigating web portals, on-hold music, robotic customer service prompts and often, the runaround, can be a daunting and time-consuming task after a tiring move. We go above and beyond a typical move management company by changing your address with:  

  

  • Utility companies 
  • Financial institutions 
  • Insurance companies 
  • Healthcare providers 
  • Subscription services, such as Netflix and Hulu 
  • Social Security Administration
  • DMV 








Estate Cleanout & Finishing Touches

It’s not over yet. Once the move is complete, you’re probably not thinking about what was left behind. But we are. We can: 

  

  • Sort remaining items into categories – sell, donate, discard – for your review
  • Schedule donation pick-ups and drop-offs 
  • Schedule trash removal
  • Shred documents  
  • Coordinate with auction house or estate sale company to prepare items for sale 
  • Sweep house and final walkthrough
  • Recommend and schedule cleaners for deep clean
